"Books Fall Open, You Fall In"
I rated this book 3 out of 5 stars
Christmas River, a small town in Oregon, is about to hold its annual Gingerbread Junction Competition and Cinnamon plans on winning this year. Unfortunately a few days before the competition, a judge is found dead and it looks like someone is trying to pin it on Cinnamon. Can she clear her name and win the competition or will she lose more than the Gingerbread title?
This is a cute but predictable Christmas cozy. I had it on my Kindle for the longest time and decided right before the holidays to give it a go. The characters were somewhat developed. I feel like even though this was the first in series, there was a lot of backstory missing and questions left unanswered so I didn’t quite get a feel for the majority of individuals in the story. Also the mystery itself was pretty simplistic. It didn’t take a lot of sleuthing to figure out who the killer was even when the author attempted to throw you off. I still enjoyed the book though and it was a nice, quick, light-hearted read for the holidays.
