Once Upon A Book – Charlee Rae's Book Reviews

"Books Fall Open, You Fall In"

The Last Sacrifice (Dominion Trilogy #1) by Joe Hart and Stuart Moore

I rated this book 3 1/2 out of 5 stars

I won this book as part of a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.

In a world where the female population is on the brink of extinction, 15 year old Janie Tenner doesn’t know who she can trust. Separated from her sister, Janie is taken to a facility where she is put through a string of tests. Finally able to make an escape, a grieving father by the name of Tom Vincent comes to her rescue. Janie feels safe for the first time since the world went crazy. But is Tom really who Janie thinks he is or will he betray her?

I tend to go back and forth when it comes to dystopian or apocalyptic type graphic novels so I wasn’t sure how well I would enjoy this one. Some I have really liked while others have left me disappointed. The premise of this story is what initially intrigued me as I found the synopsis both interesting and uncomfortable at the same time. I admit it took me a little while to get into it. It bounces back and forth in time and at first was a bit confusing. Once I got past that and was able to sort it out, I became engrossed in the tale. The illustrations¬†are visually appealing and I really enjoyed the main character, Janie. I definitely recommend and plan on reading the rest of this trilogy.
