I rated this story 2 out of 5 stars
This was part of a 2 in 1 Nook freebie that I snagged awhile ago. It included Creamed at the Coffee Cabana and A Frozen Scoop of Murder. I will be splitting this up into two separate reviews.
Tara owns the Frozen Scoop ice cream Shoppe in the small town of Caesar’s Creek, GA. Tired of a chaotic like, the small town suits her current needs. That is until the town is rocked by the murder of one of its residents, Miss Greta. Tara and her friends, Stormi and Paige, set out to find the killer.
A very short novella, this one didn’t grab my attention like Creamed at the Coffee Cabana did. Although the setting was extremely similar, I didn’t care for the characters as much in this one. Tara, the main character, was inconsistent with what she wanted in life and her friend Stormi was annoying. I didn’t mind the level headed Paige so much, but as far as Miss Greta, she was predictable as the town’s most hated resident. The story was generic and when it came to solving the murder, the killer just kind of came out of nowhere. The best part of this book is the cover. It’s simply adorable, but that’s not enough to get me to read anything further in this series.

Good to know. I’m always looking to pick up new cozy series but a bit nervous with all the free or $1 ones on Amazon. Which are good? Which are bad? This helps. Thx.
