"Books Fall Open, You Fall In"
I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars
I received a copy of this book directly from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Jamie Quinn is a family law attorney. A reluctant one at that. But things are starting to look up. She’s got a growing law firm that she’s finding she actually enjoys, a boyfriend who is oh so wonderful and a group of friend that anyone would envy. That all changes however when she agrees to take on a high profile divorce case. Soon things start spiraling out of control and Jamie isn’t sure she can hold on anymore.
I sat down with the intention of reading a couple chapters and then getting to work. Lucky for me I didn’t have a busy work day planned because I ended up playing the “just one more chapter” game and next thing I knew, I’d finished the book! Read it all in one sitting. This book sucked me in and that was that. This installment picks right up where Perils in the Park left off and keeps going full speed ahead. What. A. Ride! Never a dull moment, Jamie Quinn takes us on quite an adventure. I seriously love everything about this series from the main character to the setting to her group of friends. I can’t get enough of it! I love how they are all a fun, yet mismatched group of people and I feel like I know them…..or want to know them. The stories are always fast paced and interesting without bogging you down with incomprehensible lawyer speak (I get enough of that from my sister who is an attorney but her cases don’t sound nearly as interesting). This installment was particularly nail biting with Jamie working multiple cases but unaware (as was I) that they were connected. Oh I suspected they might be, but I couldn’t think of what the connection could be! There were so many twists and turns that I’m still reeling from it all. So much was going on but I was still able to grasp it without getting lost. I loved every minute of it……even if it did mean I didn’t get much work done today. As they say, tomorrow is another day. It honestly couldn’t be helped though as this is seriously one of the best series I have read in a while. And no, I’m not just saying that because I got a free copy. If I didn’t like it, trust me, you’d know. I can’t thank the author enough for giving me the change to read her work. It’s absolutely fantastic! Do yourself a favor and check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
