Once Upon A Book – Charlee Rae's Book Reviews

"Books Fall Open, You Fall In"

A Smidge of Crazy: More Quirky Essays for Quirky People by Barbara Venkataraman

I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars

This book contains 15 short stories that are entertaining, fun and very relatable. Although I liked all of them, my two standouts were Nowhere to Hide and My Extra Key. Reason for them being my favorites is because each of these scenarios have presented themselves to me very recently.

My relation to the story Nowhere to Hide: Just the other day I found myself talking about a product with my husband only to log onto Amazon and see that very product pop up as a recommendation as if I had personally asked it to search for me. I mean yea, I ended up buying it….but it also creeped me out a bit.

As far as My Extra Key…..well I have more than just one extra. I actually discovered that I have an entire drawer full of keys that I have no idea what they go to. I honestly had no idea I had that many stray keys…..but for some reason I can’t bring myself to throw them out. I keep thinking that if I do I will eventually discover what they unlock and it will be eternally lost to me if I don’t keep it. The weird part is that they just keep multiplying. As if I’m some sort of key fairy or designated “keeper of the keys.”

Anyway, I’m glad for these stories because they let me know I’m not the only one….and gives me the chance to laugh at the book as well as myself.
