Angela Martin, once a household name for being the lead singer of the pop group Baby Gang, has fallen on hard times. In desperate need of rehab, cash and a place to escape, she finds a job working as a caretaker for an empty house in a secluded area. Completely isolated and alone, she hopes this will help get her life on track as well as discourage the stalker she left behind in London. There’s only one problem, in Fell House, you’re never truly alone.

With Halloween just around the corner, I’m always looking for some ghost stories to read and this one was pretty good. Although I will say this is more than just a book about a haunted house. It’s also a “finding yourself” tale about a woman who has lost sight of who she is and has stumbled down a dark road. On a quest to find solitude and rid herself of her demons, as well as a stalker, she ends up at Fell House. This is where her life takes an unexpected paranormal turn. I found the story to be engaging and although I don’t feel the characters, with the exception of Angela, were fully developed, I still found them mostly likable. Angela could be dismissive of things that I think most people in her situation would not be so that bothered me a little. I also felt the ending was a bit rushed and somewhat too clean for my tastes, but aside from that it held my interest and I would consider reading more from this author.
